Senior Mechanical Engineer

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience on Higher Ed, Municipal, K-12, and Commercial projects.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of North Carolina or ability to obtain your PE in North Carolina within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the proposal process by providing clients with input on design options, project schedules, and code review.
  • Perform site visits to existing facilities for renovation/addition projects for information gathering on existing conditions.
  • Work with project managers and designers and collaborate with other disciplines to prepare construction drawings and calculations within AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Perform quality control review analyses to ensure final documents and specifications exceed client expectations.
  • Conduct interdisciplinary coordination and manage final reviews/approvals between disciplines and agencies and respond to comments.
  • Continue involvement through the construction process including submittal review, RFI response, field visits, and closeout documentation.

Skills

  • Perform full HVAC system design and sizing (equipment, ductwork, piping, ventilation, controls, etc.) including full load calculations and equipment selection.
  • Coordinate and integrate HVAC systems with other building services (such as electrical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and fire protection) to ensure seamless functionality, compliance with building codes, and optimal performance in the overall building infrastructure.
  • Produce HVAC design drawing packages (plans, schedules, construction details, specifications, sequences of operation, and life safety).
