General Responsibilities
Optima Engineering is seeking an experienced Construction Administrator to join our team. This role is key in ensuring that projects are built in accordance with our design documents and maintaining strong relationships with our clients and contractors. As the face of the company on active construction sites, the Construction Administrator provides oversight, identifies issues, and helps keep projects on track.
Responsibilities
- Attend pre-construction and construction progress meetings
- Conduct routine site visits, issue detailed field reports, and document non-conforming work
- Review contractor submittals, payment applications, and change orders
- Develop and maintain punch lists, confirm completion, and participate in project close-out reviews
- Serve as liaison between client, contractor, and design team to support timely issue resolution
- Refer field deviations to design engineers and coordinate clarifications
- Participate in project postmortem reviews for larger or complex projects
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction administration or field experience
- Strong knowledge of MEP/FP systems for commercial buildings
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings
- Familiarity with construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including field report preparation
- Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record
- Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent technical experience)
- CDT Certification and/or construction safety training
- Experience with North Carolina State Construction (SCO) projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Ajera a plus
